Switzerland has 4 official languages. That’s why the region you want to live in is very important. Basel is located in German-speaking part of Switzerland. Therefore we recommend you to learn German. Swiss German is spoken in this region, but High German is understood and used in writing.

How do I declare my belongings at Swiss customs?
For importing household goods to Switzerland, you typically need:
– Form 18.44 (Swiss Federal Customs)
– Detailed packing list/inventory
– Proof of residence in Switzerland (a copy of your residence permit or registration, rental contract, work contract, or permit)
– Copy of passport/ID
You must declare all goods as used personal effects, and they should arrive within 2 years of your move.
